More Born Pretty Product Reviews

**All products were provided  for an honest review**

Anything you need to do your nails you can find at bornprettystore.com. The products are extremely well priced and they always have free world wide shipping!!!

I'm always looking for new nail art brushes, so I jumped at the chance to try this set. There are two striping brushes, a smaller detail brush and a flat head brush (great for clean up).

You can check out this brush set here.

I used the small detail brush to hand paint concentric circles on each nail.
I started with a base of Essie Style Cartel and used Alchemy Lacquers Naiad of the Spring to paint the circles. I added a rhinestone for a little bling.

The brushes were easy to manipulate and they cleaned up really well.  I love the flower handle so much!! It had a durable finish on it so it won't get ruined by acetone.

Halloween MADNESS!!

I usually leave the painstaking nail art for holidays and special occasions. Halloween seems to be the holiday where people go completely bonkers for spooky nail art. I love seeing all of the different ideas and themes people come up with.

This year I decided to do a skittle mani, if you will, featuring some spooky Halloween fun!

I started with a base I thought would go with all of the ideas I had. I chose to put Picture Polish Aurora (GASP!) over a medium purple jelly.  The effect of these together is perfect!

I used acrylic paint and a thin nail art brush to paint on the black cat, haunted house, bats and ghost. This was the first time I did something this detailed on my nails (without using a decal or stamping).  I have to say I was quite impressed with the result.  I know with practice I will gain better brush control and be able to do even more.

We would love to see your Halloween nails!! Please post them to our Facebook page so we can see your masterpieces!

Happy Halloween!

I'm A Rock Star Baby!

You know that feeling when you think about a mani and then you do it and it's EXACTLY what you hoped it would be??  That's what happened today! I couldn't be more in love with this mani and the color combinations.

I got a few basics from NailVinyls. Here I used the large chevron. These vinyls are so much better than the paper stickers version I've tried before. They stick to your nails smoothly AND they remove without smudging. I would highly recommend these to anyone looking to create easy nail art.

I started with a base of Color Club Halo Hues Harp On It (THE BEST DAMN HOLO THERE IS HANDS DOWN). After I applied the vinyl down the middle I added the other polishes, OPI Onyx and Models Own Polish For Tans Flip Flop.

This mani is majorly eye-catching! I think I will try something similar but with gradient colors!

Feathers and Glitter

Hello everyone and happy Thursday!! The weekend can't come quick enough. This week seems to be dragging along. What makes it better?  A fun mani!

For this mani I used these amazing purple feather decals from Daily Charme.  While Born Pretty is my go-to site for decals because of their huge selection and low prices, Daily Charme has become another favorite source.  The patterns and designs available are so unique and the prices are great!

This polish is Zoya Marley, a muted lavender that is a great polish to transition from summer to fall.  The glitter topcoat is Sephora by OPI Flurry Up, which I have had FOREVER and still use at least once a month.

These decals are awesome!!  They seriously look painted on.  Applying them in various angles gives it an even more unique look.

You can find these water decals and many more at the Daily Charme website here.  A pack comes with one sheet of decals with 20 feathers in different shapes and sizes.  They are available in purple, red, orange and blue.    I snagged a few other great patterns that I hope to use in the next few weeks.

So if you're having a rough Monday, cure it with some nail art!  Have a great day everyone!

Coral Skittles

I am definitely a coral polish fan.  I have a few different ones but this one is my favorite. Paired with gold accents and I'm in heaven!!

You've seen this coral here before when I reviewed for Poshinality. It's called Chic.  It's a bright creme that has the perfect formula. The gold accents are OPI Love Angel Music Baby

I used my old striping brush to make the X accent nail. I am so much happier with my new brush. It is more precise and makes thinner lines.

A stud is always a good, fun addition to any mani.

Layered Butterfly

This layered butterfly design is my last summer-inspired mani.  Now it's time for fall, how is this possible?  It feels like just yesterday we were thawing out after the coldest winter ever!  Oh well... such is life.

I love layered looks like this, especially stamping on top of stripes or other simple nail art patterns.  For this mani I painted the 3 nails in Zoya Wendy from the summer Tickled Collection.  I just love this melon shade!

The other two nails were painted white and then I used a striping brush to paint the tan stripes, which are Essie Sand Tropez.

Finally I used Konad plate #M36 with Wendy to stamp the butterflies.  I wanted them to stand out more so I filled them in.

I got so many complements on this mani.  I am so excited that I have really gotten the hang of stamping because it creates so many more mani possibilities.  I guess I saved the best for last because this is by far my favorite summer mani I created this season.

Now that we are welcoming fall colors, why don't you share with us your favorite summer mani?

Born Pretty Product Reviews- Water Decals and Stamping Plate

**All products were provided  for an honest review**

I was so excited to try these water decals.  Owls are everywhere these days, on clothing, pillows, jewelry... and now they're on your nails!

How cute are they?!  I love the colors and the variety.

The polishes I used for this mani are Sinful Shine Rendezvous and Essie Find Me An Oasis.  I used striping tape to create the striped design.

The best thing about water decals is that they are so easy to apply.  So even if you have trouble with other kinds of nail art, you can still create an eye-catching design with little effort!  Check out Born Pretty's huge selection of water decals, you won't be disappointed!

Cosmo... The Perfect Drink and the Perfect Pixie

I have to admit, textured polishes aren't always my favorite.  But, I had never tried Zoya Pixies and I finally bought some a couple of months ago.  It was so hard to decide which one I wanted!  I ended up choosing Cosmo from the Magical Pixie Dust Spring 2014 collection.  Now it is taking all of my will power to resist buying the rest of the collection!

This is more than a glitter bomb, this is like a disco ball on steroids in a bottle.  Zoya Cosmo is a silver textured polish with large iridescent hex particles.  Textured polishes can be tricky to apply smoothly but this applied nicely with minimal effort.  I applied 2 coats for full opacity.

The mint shade is my favorite summer polish, Essie Absolutely Shore.  I love how these two polishes pair together.  To create the gradient accent nail I used an eyeshadow applicator to dab on the glitter polish then smoothed it out with topcoat.  I did not use topcoat on the middle finger in order to maintain the textured look.

The best thing about this particular Pixie is that it can be paired with almost any shade.  But I think I want to try one of the others too... maybe Lux?  If you haven't tried them yet, I totally recommend them.  I got so many compliments on this mani.  I think the glitter really caught their eyes.  You can see this stuff from space!

What is your favorite Zoya Pixie Dust?

4th of July FUN!!

If you live in the US, you know that today is the 4th of July. Yet another holiday to be able to do awesome nail art!!  Now, we all know that nail art is not my forte, however, I got some new brushes from Sally's and I couldn't wait to try them out.

I have been looking at a lot of ideas on Pinterest and other blogs. This is a compilation of some of my favorites that I saw from all over the blogisphere. I wish I could tag all the people who inspired this creation, but I don't remember where they came from.

My pinky and thumb nails are supposed to be fireworks. LOL  They didn't come out as I expected, but I have very little brush control, so I guess I'll get better with practice. I added some rhinestones for some extra dimension.

The star is my favorite of all these designs. I have never used negative space before, but I've always loved the way it looks. I'm super proud that I was able to pull this one off so well.

And who could do a 4th of July mani without some American flags!!!

My new brushes are awesome! I was able to make really straight lines for the first time. They were well worth the small investment.

What are on your nails for the holiday? Post them on our FB wall, we would love to see them.

Brighter Than the Sun!

I have found ANOTHER favorite summer color!!! Um....anything BRIGHT or NEON!! With my skin getting more and more tan, these colors look freaking amazing!!

The base for this mani is China Glaze Hightlight of My Summer. It's a super bright minty green. I had this on my toes too and it caught a lot of eyes. I'm officially obsessed!!

I stamped using Sinful Shine Most Sinful.  Whenever I feel like I'm getting better with stamping, I take a close up pic and my confidence crumbles.  :(

These looked really good from a far, and then they looked so smudged in these pics. Oh well, such is life. #nailbloggerproblems  I still really loved the way this mani came out and I will definitely be using this color again during the summer months.

What are your favorite colors for summer? Brights, pastels, neons?? I LOVE THEM ALL!!!

Stamping With Color Foil is a Dream!

Have you ever hunted down a hard-to-find, coveted polish?  I'm talking about going to over 10 stores to find one particular polish.  Picture visiting Ulta, CVS, Duane Reade, Target Harmon, and Walgreens, sometimes a couple locations of each.  Well, that's pretty much what I did last week while trying to get my hands on some of the limited edition Sally Hansen Color Foils.  Any company that comes out with a limited edition polish is a genius because the minute that label is put on it we all fight to get them.   My hunt ended at a Bed Bath and Beyond in NYC.  I nearly screamed with joy when I saw them!  So of course I bought 3...

The reason I wanted some of these polishes is because I heard they work really well with stamping.  And they totally do!!

This is my best stamping mani ever! The base color is Essie Find Me an Oasis from the Resort 2014 collection.  This ice blue is awesome for summer manis.

I stamped with Sally Hansen Color Foil Liquid Gold.  The pattern is from Mash Plate #43.

If you've seen previous posts from us you'd know that sometimes we struggle with stamping.  Some polishes smudge easily or dry to quickly and some patterns are so hard to get straight.  The Color Foil formula is so perfect for stamping.  It doesn't smudge at all and the consistency is just right.  Plus, this particular pattern leaves room for error because it can be a little more random and doesn't need to be the same on each nail like some other patterns.

I love how delicate and feminine this came out.  I was showing off this mani all weekend long.

I also picked up two other shades from the collection, Titanium Flush and Minted Metal.  I can't wait to stamp with them!  If you have the opportunity to buy these polishes, do it!! Whether it's for stamping or for a solid mani, these polishes are worth hunting for.

Have you tried the Color Foil polishes yet?  If so, how do you like this new SH collection?

It's Going To Be A HOT Pink Summer

I don't know about you, but I LOVE HOT PINK!! I have a few different shades in my collection. I just can't get enough. I knew I found the ultimate hot pink when I tried on Pretty Serious The Pink One. I don't know why, but I love the simplicity of this name. It just says it ALL!

The vibrancy of this color is breath taking!! The formula is flawless to boot. Shown is two coats of polish with top coat.

I couldn't decide which pics to post, so I just posted ALL of my favorites! This pic shows the awesome blue/purple shimmer that makes this polish really stand out.

DROOL!!

I thought this polish deserved a MACRO! I mean come on....you gotta get your hands on this polish for the summer!!!

What is your favorite HOT PINK polish??? I'm always looking. :)

Ellagee Swatches!

Laura from Ellagee sent us some pretty spring/summer polishes to swatch and review.  Ellagee polishes are 3-free and the formula is always great.  Check out these beauties...

From left to right you have Peony, Snapdragon and Aloha 'Oe.

Peony is from the White Lace and Promises collection.  It's a delicate sheer peach with a subtle peach shimmer.  Shown is 3 coats and top coat.  The formula is smooth and it has a perfect amount of shimmer for subtle spring look.

Laura also gave us these adorable 3D butterfly charms.  I love how it adds some extra sparkle to this subtle mani.  These charms are the best because they are reusable!

Next up is Snapdragon, also from the White Lace and Promises collection.  This periwinkle blue has some gorgeous silver/blue shimmer.  Shown is 3 coats and top coat.

This is unlike any blue I have in my polish collection.  It is a perfect base for stamping...

My sister bought me a huge set of Pueen Nail Plates for my birthday.  For this design I used plate #21.  I am loving this look!  Definitely leaving it on for the weekend :)

Lastly we have Aloha 'Oe from the Laule'a collection.  This beautiful purple shimmer is amazing!  It applied evenly and has some serious shimmer.  Shown is 2 coats and top coat.

The Laule'a collection consists of gorgeous shimmer and glitter polishes inspired by the Hawaiian Islands.

Thanks to Laura from Ellagee for sending us some great products!  Check out her website here and Facebook page here to add some her polishes to your collection!

Have a great weekend everyone!  Happy polishing!
