Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Review

                                                                                                                  ***All products were provided for and honest review.***

I was a fan of the blogger Wishes of a Blue-Eyed Girl since my early days of blogging. Recently, this blogger turned her love of polish into every polish hoarders lovers dream and started her own indie brand, Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer.

I was thrilled, of course to get the chance to swatch for her. She has an amazing Winter Collection and is doing a full restock on 1/1/14, which will include these two beauties from the Winter Collection as well as an amazingly beautiful New Year's Duo.

Santa & His Suit and Candy Cane Cutie Pie Christmas Manis

We're sure you're all sick of Christmas manis but we're going to share ours anyway!  These are the cute manis we're sporting for Christmas.

★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

I, Vicky, decided to do a santa mani.  I love the connected manis and wanted to try one with Santa's head and his suit.  Ho! Ho! Ho!

I used Pure Ice Siren and a nail art brush to make Santa's suit.  For the his head I painted my nail in a sheer pink and painted his face, hat and beard with nail art brushes.

 This is pretty much the cutest mani I've ever done, I love it!  Please don't mind my very short pointer finger nail.  I broke it the other day cleaning, darn!

The pinky nail is Glitter Guilty Pine Cones and Holly Berries that came in my December box.  This glitter topper has gold, purple and red glitters.  It's a very cute Christmas glitter that is a nice addition to my collection.

★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

I, Erika, painted a candy cane mani.  It's a simple but cute Christmas mani.

I used Zoya Carmen with Jade Diamond red holo topper and Avon Brushed Metals Platinum stripes with a striping brush.

★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

We hope you all have a very merry Christmas and a happy and safe New Year!! We are blessed with such a great group of followers and we love sharing our nail obsession with you!

Snowfall Mani

We've had some snowy weather here on the East Coast, even my nails had some flakes!  Ah yes, winter is here and so is the freezing cold weather.  Luckily the snow has been melting quick.  It's pretty to look at for a couple hours but then I'm done, so melt away!  And on that note, here's a snowy mani for your visual pleasure...

I painted my nails with Essie Rock the Boat and used a dotting tool for the snowfall nails.  Then I used a thin nail art brush to make the snowflake.  The snowflake was way harder than I thought it would be!

This polish is a perfect winter blue and even though I hate snow, I'm digging this mani!

Have you tried any winter manis?  We'd love to see them! Share pics on our Facebook page

Paint Shop Polish Review

***All products were provided for and honest review.***

Paint Shop Polish has a great line of winter polishes. Whether you like shimmers, glitter toppers or just a little sparkle, she has it all!

We have two polishes from the winter collection. First up is the perfect Christmas red sparkle topper, Prancer

For this mani I used one opaque coat of Zoya Carmen and two thick coats of Prancer. I gave it all a glossy finish with one coat of HK Girl top coat.

The formula on this polish was a tad thick, but not hard to work with. It went on evenly and dried nicely.

My favorite of the two polishes is the glitter topper, Jack Frost. Perfect for the cold, snowy weather we've been having here on the east coast, this polish has small, vibrant aqua blue glitters and large snowflakes.

I layered one coat of Jack Frost over one coat of Sephora by OPI Social Climber. I used two thick coats of HK Girl top coat to smooth everything out and seal the edges of the snowflakes.

Of course I had to fish like crazy to get each and every snowflake. That's to be expected with these types of large glitters.

Overall, I enjoyed using these polishes. I LOVED Jack Frost and couldn't stop looking at my nails!!!

Please check out Paint Shop Polish on Etsy and give them a like on Facebook

Glitter Guilty December Box Reveal

My Glitter Guilty December box came a couple of days ago and I am thrilled!!!

This month I got a full size bottle of Glam Girl, which will be reviewed in detail below, a mini bottle of Pinecones and Holly Berries and a tasty treat from Sweet Poppins!  Sweet Poppins makes gourmet flavored popcorn in some crazy yummy flavors like lemon pound cake and red velvet.  As you can see, I got strawberry cheesecake and it was DE-LISH!  I always seem to devour my special treat the minute my box arrives.  I guess I have a bit of a sweet tooth :)

Glam Girl is a jelly-based neon pink polish with pink microglitter and medium and large hexes.  It was love at first site!

The formula of this jelly is wonderful.  It has great coverage with just 2 coats.  Isn't it pretty?!  This is absolutely my favorite polish I have gotten from Glitter Guilty so far.

Here are macros of both polishes.  Pinecones and Holly Berries is a clear-based glitter with small red hexes, purple hexes and gold circles and hexes.  I didn't swatch this one because I am going to use it in one of my Christmas manis later in the month.

To learn more about the Glitter Guilty subscription or to get one for yourself, go to her website here.  You won't be disappointed, she makes great polishes and provides amazing customer service!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Oh, You Fancy? Chanel Swatches for the Designer Polish Lovers

Just recently one of our aunts surprised us each with a bottle of Chanel nail polish.  At $27 a bottle, chances are it's not something either of us would ever buy for ourselves.  We were so excited for our first designer polishes!  She picked two gorgeous colors that fit our unique styles perfectly.

 I,Vicky, got Taboo, a deep purple-based shimmer with hints of blue and bronze microglitter.

Both the color and application of this polish is absolutely luxurious.  In fact, you really only need one coat to get full coverage and opacity.  That never happens!

I decided to use Sephora Mauve-ie Star in the Making glitter topcoat on the accent nail to add even more pizzazz.  I use this glitter topcoat fairly often because it it's soooo pretty and is great with the pinks and purples I am always wearing.  It has larger pink and lavendar glitter with gold and pink microglitters.

I think my favorite thing about this polish is how noticeable but subtle the blue and gold shimmer is, especially in the photos.  This was the most perfect mani for the bachelorette party I was going to over the weekend... perfectly glam!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I, Erika, got Chanel Alchemie, a shimmery, creamy olive green.
Of course this polish applied like a dream. Is it worth the $27 price tag? I think not!! I personally don't think any polish is worth this much for that matter.
I added a little flare to this mani with some fun water decals from Born Pretty Store. I had to cut these down significantly to fit my shorties, but they still look great!
This was my Thanksgiving mani and it matched the olive green shirt I wore. POW!
Did you have a special mani for Thanksgiving? We'd love to see it!!
Shirley Ann Nail Lacquer Swatches
**All products were provided for an honest review**
Shirley Ann Nail Lacquer sent us two polishes from her most recent winter holiday collection.  I love trying new indies!
First up is Fluffy Stuff, this glitter topper consists of various shades of blue micro glitter, white hexes and white bar glitter.  I chose to put it on top of Sally Hansen Intrigue and a white accent nail.
This is a great polish for winter.  The white bar glitter was easy to work with and none of them stuck out like other bar glitters I have used in the past.
This polish is perfectly named because it reminds me fluffy, falling snow. I think this would look good on top of a silver or grey  or even on a dark blue.
 Next up is When the Ball Drops, the only polish you'll need for New Year's Eve!
This glitter bomb polish is full of pink and blue micro glitters with a splash of gold glitter.  No need for a base color with this one, 2 or 3 coats will give you full coverage and lots of glitter!
Because this is such a dense glitter polish, the application wasn't as smooth as Fluffy Stuff.  It went on pretty thick, but that's the price you pay for sparkle!
Check out more hand mixed, 3-free polishes from Shirley Ann Nail Lacquer at her Etsy page HERE.  She has a lot of gorgeous, unique polishes to add to your collection!  She even has a great Christmas glitter called Rudolf Ralphed, haha!
And how about some macros!?
Thanks to Shirley Ann Nail Lacquer for giving us the opportunity try out her product!
Crazy Cool Flakie
Yummy flakie goodness!!! Born Pretty Store has a fantastic line of flakies and I had to have at least one of them! I chose this one.
This is called Sweet Color W015. I hate that Born Pretty Store doesn't name their polishes, but numbers them. Where's the creativity?? I layered this lovely polish over two Essie fall colors,  After School Boy and Vested Interest on the accent nail. I love how this polish looks over both polishes.
The great thing about flakies is they can look dramatically different over different colors making them so versatile.
What's your favorite flakie polish??
MOD Lacquer Review
                                                                              **All products were provided for an honest review**
If you haven't heard if MOD Lacquer you MUST give them a lookie. I knew I had to try them when I saw their amazing glitter bomb Kosmic Karma! Then I saw their other polishes and the unique combinations they make and had have to them!! Here's another post I did with a few of my faves.
You know I have to start the MOD party with some MACROS. I'm so excited that I get to show you a range of polishes: glitters, flakie, and holo glitters…OH MY!!  Can you believe this line up???
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Sasquatch is a warm golden brown that shimmers in the sunlight, but it has a nice depth that fades into darkness in lower light to reveal the gold flakes."

This is the perfect fall polish. It's a brown polish with a golden touch. Flakie polishes are my favorite because you get the sparkle of a glitter without the hassle of glitter removal.

This is two coats of Sasquatch. The formula is wonderful and smooth.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Revenant is a bright blue with subtle duo-chrome that shifts from blue to purple with a micro fine scattered holo glitter to give a little sparkle."
Everyone knows I love a good blue! This is a GREAT blue! Of course the pics don't do the holo any justice. This polish really shines in the sunlight.
This is two coats of Revenant. The formula is great and goes on smooth.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Goblin is a beautiful green duo-chrome that shifts from olive green to bright green to a warm burgundy/brown with a micro fine scattered holo glitter to give a little sparkle."

The sister holo to Revenant, Goblin is an amazing fall holo. I'm loving green polishes more and more and this polish has added to my love! The duo-chrome shift in this polish is so fun!!

This is two wonderful coats of Goblin. The formula was smooth and covered well.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
YAY GLITTERS!!!!!
"Thunderbird is a sheer black jelly finish with dark holo glitters that flash bright colors that pop out and grab you before slinking back into darkness."
I hate that I can't get a good pic of how amazingly sparkly this polish is! I would love to see this polish over a lighter color to see how it may make the holo glitters POP.
This is one coat of Thunderbird over one coat of OPI Onyx. I love the formula of this glitter topper. No fishing involved and it went on evenly and smooth!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Jersey Devil is a sheer black jelly with bright, warm flashes of color popping from various sizes of holo glitter"

At first glance I didn't think I was going to like this polish because I'm not much of an orange lover. Once it was on, the orange color wasn't so bold and the sparkle was amazing. I didn't want to take this off!!

This is one coat Jersey Devil over one coat OPI Onyx. This polish will definitely cover in two coats for more sparkle! Again, the formula was perfect!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm in love with MOD Lacquer all over again. They have amazing formulas and brilliant combinations of colors and glitter.
MOD Lacquer does an amazing job of describing their polishes, so I used their descriptions instead of coming up with my own crappy ones. The quotes you see on this post are taken from their Etsy store.
Right now MOD Lacquer has two limited edition colors available, Breaking Mod and Vault 24/18 (real gold topper). There are two new sections in the shop that have retired sale items. The prices are already marked down so no codes are required to get a good deal on these items. There is a a Fall sale running for 15% off running now and ending on Dec, 1st. The coupon code is FALL15.
