Winter Waterfall

HOLY COW.. All the new spring polishes, clothes and shoes are coming out and my bank account is going to be HURTING if I can't find a way to control myself.  I have been pretty good over the past month but I feel myself caving.  Someone save me from my over-spending self!  Phew, rant over... onto the nail art...

I have been wanting to try the waterfall look for a while and I finally got around to it this week.  I wanted to use mostly neutral tones and thought these colors went really nice together...

I painted my nails with Zoya Jaime, an iridescent pale pink, and the stripes were made using Sally Hansen Commander in Chic and silver and white Kiss nail art paint.  The Kiss striper brushes made this mani really easy to pull off.

This is a simple and chic design that most people can recreate themselves, even if you're a beginner!

I love this mani and plan on trying it again with bright colors this spring, if spring ever comes!!!! I swear I might die if it snows again.  I almost fainted when I saw the grass outside! The harsh winter has done some serious damage to my skin and nails and I'm over it!

I hope everyone is staying warm (or if you live in a warm place then congrats!)!!

Post Valentine's Love

Hello polish lovers! I didn't get these done for Valentine's Day, unfortunately, but I did get them done when my hubby and I went out with friends on Saturday night. I know that seems like ages ago, but now I'm finally getting them to you.

I really liked the way this mani came out so I didn't want to not post it for you.

The only polish I have that has hearts in is is Picture Polish Frosting, so I knew I wan't to use it for this special occasion. Isn't it delicious looking?? This is two coats with two coats of top coat. The only thing I hate about this polish is that you really have to fish for the hearts in a crazy way!! Like EVERY SINGLE ONE!!

The accent nail is Ciaté Confetti. This was my very first holo polish! :) I remember walking into Sephora and asking the salesgirl, "Do you have any holographic polish?" She looked at me like I was insane. A year ago no one really know what that was. At least not a regular person not obsessed with polish. LOL

The nail decal is from a set that I won from Beyond the Nail. These were really easy to work with and so fun. Just stick, add top coat, and go. It says they last up to 2 weeks!

I can imagine this will be last Valentine mani you will see. Next will be St. Patrick's Day!!

Valentine's Day Manis, Double Time!!

Happy Valentines Day everyone!  I know many of you are probably overloaded with Valentine's Day manis by now, but still I have to share mine!!  I've been super busy so I did two fairly simple designs.  Here we go!!

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

In this first mani I painted by nails with Essie No Baggage Please.  This shade has become my go-to pink.  In fact, I need to buy more! I striped my accent nail with Zoya Dove using a striping brush.

I painted the heart and the XOXO using NYC Wine Bar and a nail art brush.  I am loving the layered look of the accent nail and hope to think of more designs like this.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

In the my second V-day mani I painted my nails with Revlon Rich Rasperry.  My pinky nail has a layer of Glitter Guilty Glam Girl, just for some extra sparke :)

The accent nail is painted with Essie Best Friend's Boyfriend, a sheer pink, and topped with Essie Luxeffects Pure Perfection before I stamped.  Then I used Rich Raspberry to stamp the hearts from Mash Plate #48.  The more I stamp, the better I get at it.  This one worked perfectly on the first try! Yay!

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

I love both of these manis because they are simple but still festive and eye-catching.  I've seen some crazy and intricate designs this Valentine's Day and I am so impressed by the creativity of my fellow bloggers!  I am planning on stepping it up a notch for Easter, watch out!

I hope everyone has a great Valentine's Day full of love!

Holo-on-Holo Valentine Hearts

Last year I wasn't so into the Valentine's manis. This year I'm a little more into it, but I wish I had more time to do some of the more time consuming nail art. Did you see the swirl dotticure Lucy's Stash did? I really wanted to try my hand at that. Maybe another time with some spring colors.

This is one of the AH-MAZING NailNation3000 polishes I bought from the sale they were having on gloss38.com, Phab Phalanges.  It's a beautiful magenta holo with a perfect formula.

I had a very hard time photographing the stamping I did on these. Believe it or not ALL of these pics are stamped with hearts.

I thought it would looks super fab if I stamped a holo with another holo. I stamped with Color Club Halo-Graphic, a light pink SUPER holo. The pics below are all without flash and you can see the hearts a little more clearly.

This was my first full nail stamp and I think they came out fairly straight. I'll have some more stamped hearts in my next Valentine's mani. <3 font="">

Do have any tips for stamping with holos? Please leave me a comment below.

We'd love to see your Valentine's mani. Post them on our Facebook wall here.

Born Pretty Textured Polish

The last time we put in an order to our favorite nail supply company Born Pretty, I decided to try out one of their textured polishes.  I never really jumped on the texture bandwagon because I prefer my nails to be smooth and shiny.  But we should all try new things right?

They have so many colors and I chose this deep, royal blue and I'm loving it!  It's not so dark that it looks black but it's not a bright, summery royal blue.  Perfect for this horrific NY winter weather, ugh!

The application was perfect.  It's not thick or goopy (is goopy a word? well now it is!). You don't see the full texture effect until it dries completely.  The texture is definitely bumpy but it didn't make me feel like I had sand paper on my nails like I thought it would.

The only thing I don't like about textured polish is that you can't put topcoat on so it chips easier than any other mani.  A topcoat smooths out all the texture and completely changes the look of the polish.  I even tried using matte topcoat, but that smoothed it out too.  Unfortunately, with my chaotic life, this is pretty much a 1 or 2 day polish.  But I still really like this polish and I want to buy a few more colors.

These textured polishes are available in 16 shades at $5.99 a bottle.  Here is the link, and be sure to use our coupon code listed below!

Zoya Stamped Swirls

OMG!! It's freaking snowing again here in New York. And not a little. Like, the schools are closed and I have a snowman on my lawn. I like the winter and the cooler weather better than the summer, but this is insane!! And we're supposed to get more snow later this week!! Craziness!!

So, you saw some failed stamping from me last week when I posted about Liquid Palisade. I gave it another shot and this was what my result was. I am really happy with it even though it's far from perfect. And I used Liquid Palisade, so my clean up was a breeze!

I've been seeing a lot of two-toned stamping and I just love the way it looks. For this mani I chose Essie Play Date as my base and stamped with Zoya Belinda. This is MASH #40.  I guess I'll have to expand my stamp collection. :) Uh oh!!

You can see a smear on my ring finger, which I believe is the result from not scraping the stamp plate with enough pressure or at the wrong angle. There are some gaps on the sides of the nails too. Does anyone know how to avoid that? I think the image was big enough to transfer. I'm at a loss.

So now that my sister and I can officially stamp, you will definitely see more and I can't wait!!! The possibilities are endless!!!
