Born Pretty Reviews That End With a BANG!

*Products provided for review*

We've got a ton of new Born Pretty Store products to show you today and we think you'll love them!

One product I chose were these cute and colorful flower water decals.  I seriously can't resist ordering water decals every time we do a review for Born Pretty.  Sorry if you are all sick of seeing them but I just love how easy they are!

These springtime colors are just my style  They look great over my recently purchased Essie Go Ginza.  On my accent nail I actually cut out single flowers and placed them all over my nail.  These decals are super cute!

Next up are creative french manicure tip guides.  The set I got are a zigzag pattern.

I used my favorite OPI shade Kiss Me I'm Brazilian.  After letting that dry I used the tip guide to stencil on the gold tip.  Then I used striping brushes to line it with white.  Pretty and funky!!  This is a summertime color combo that never gets old... coral and gold!

Last but not least... the BANG you have all been waiting for...

I picked this set of liner brushes, which can be used for so much more than just stripes.  I did use them in the above mani for the white lining.  And then I had an idea...

BOOM!  POW!  Happy 4th of July!!!  How fun are these???

My pinky nail was painted red with Pure Ice Siren and then striped white with white acrylic paint using the long striping brush.  The rest of my nails were painted navy with OPI Dating a Royal.  The topper on my first two fingers is a thick and chunky patriotic topper from Hard Candy that should have been named something more patriotic than Soda Pop.  Then I used acrylic paints and the shorter brush to paint on the fireworks.  I did a few silver strokes to add some extra POW.

This was my first try at fireworks on my nails and I'm pretty impressed with myself.  What do you think??

We hope you all had a fun and safe 4th of July!

Spring Blooms

Spring is such a lovely time of year.  The flowers and trees are blooming and it is almost summer beach time!  Floral nail art is perfect this time of year.  Creating a floral print freehand is pretty tough so why not go an easier route?  That's right, my favorite water decals!

My base color is Revlon Lily and I used Stella by LynB Designs on my accent nail to add some sparkle.

I like that the flowers came in different sizes and some pieces were just leaves.

There were so many flowers on the sheet that I have plenty to use for another mani. Yay!  Check out Born Pretty's huge selection of water decals here.

Does anyone else's pets get in the way when you are trying to photograph your mani?  This is Sophie.  I just adopted her in February.  She was very intrigued by the light box and I had a hard time getting pictures because of her interference!

I hope you are all enjoying the springtime and warm weather!

Share your floral mani's with us!

Purple Mosaic

This purple mosaic is one of my favorite designs I've made this year so far.  Striping tape makes this complicated design pretty simple!

The base color on the mosaic nails is Spoiled Daddy's Credit Card.  The blurple shade is Revlon Impulsive and the lilac is Essie Play Date.

I created the mosaic design by laying striping tape in various angles.  Then I filled in the spaces with Play Date and Impulsive.  Be sure to carefully remove the striping tape to avoid smudging.

I used a thin brush dipped in Daddy's Credit Card to correct any minor errors.

I have seen the mosaic design from several nail connoisseurs, but I am loving this one.  I love, love, love purple!   These shades are two of my favorite and they contrast each other very nicely.

Have you ever done a mosaic?  We would love to see it!

Influenster YSL VoxBox

*Products provided for honest review from Influenster

I was more than thrilled to be chosen to receive the YSL VoxBox from Influenster. It included the reformulated YSL Masacara Volume Effect Faux Cils.

I am definitely a lover of a GOOD mascara. I don't tend to indulge in expensive mascara anymore. I've been sticking to drug store brands more and more, so this was a real treat.

I have a very hard time finding a mascara that works for me. I have long, thick lashes (I know, poor me LOL), so a lot of mascaras are too gloopy or make my lashes stick together.

I really love this mascara. It doesn't do all the things that I hate in a mascara. It separates my lashes and elongates them without looking goopy and thick. I may have to splurge on this mascara in the future.

The retail value of this mascara is $30!! That's way over what I would usually pay, but I think it may be work it!

Thanks Influenster for giving me the opportunity to try this wonderful product!

If you would like an invite to become an Influenster and get a chance to try new products, comment below with your email and I will send you one.

Flakie Fun!

Considering flakies are my favorite type of nail polish, I had to get my hands on at least one.

Polish Me Silly Party Hearty is the perfect flakie. It has a range of colors depending on the light and the base color.

I chose my go to silver as the base for this magnificent polish, Poshinality Old Soul.  I love how this came out. The flakies really stand out against the lighter base.

MACRO SHOT  It almost looks like some of the flakies are multicolored.

What is your favorite flakie polish right now??

Stairway to Heaven

Gray manis are all the rage right now because of 50 Shades of Grey! After I saw the movie (which I thought was awesome!) I was drawn to these colors. I've totally jumped on the band wagon. :)

To achieve this design I used larger chevron decals from Nail Vinyls. I love these vinyls and have a few different kinds. Changing the direction of these decals from horizontal to diagonal totally changes the way you see it. My son said they looked like buildings. LOL!

I started with a shimmery base of Poshinality Old Soul. The dark gray is  SinfulShine Steel Reserve and the lighter gray is Color Club Silver Lake

I loved wearing this mani and it lasted almost a week!!! I love when that happens!!

I've been trying to work on my photos for you all. I don't have the money to buy a fancy camera, so I have to work with what I have. I've been trying different lighting, different settings and different hand positions. I see amazing pictures from other bloggers and I get so jealous!! HOW DO YOU DO IT??

Have you created a mani inspired by 50 Shades of Grey? Leave us a picture on our Facebook.

Winter Hues Chevron

Blues and grays are great for the winter.  And who doesn't love a simple chevron design?  I have combined some this season's hottest shades in this simple nail art design.

The gorgeous periwinkle blue is Revlon Brilliant Strength Intrigue.  The silver is Sally Hansen Color Foil Sterling Silver.  Last but not least, the gray is Zoya Kelly, a deep, rich gray that I love for this season.

I painted my nails with Intrigue and used a striping brush for the rest.  I decided to invert the design on my accent nail to switch it up a bit.  Not so great at painting straight lines?  Grab some striping tape to help you achieve clean lines.

Hope you all enjoy the latest designs from my sister and I!

Valentine's Day Mani Mania

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

This Valentine's Day I was inspired to create more than one look. I chose pinks as my primary colors because I despise red nail polish. I know, I know, don't hate me! If I had time I think I would have done another one. I just can't get enough of all the hearts and LOVE!!

This mani is so girly and fun! My new favorite purchase is this bright pink from Color Club, Wicker Park.  I'll definitely be wearing this a lot this Spring/Summer!

I free handed the heart using negative space. This is a technique I'll never get tired of. For the other nail I used striping tape and a dotting tool to create the heart. This spectacular silver holo is Digital Nails Supernova. WOW!

So stinkin' cute!

The second mani I created is a little different and much easier to execute.  Some glitter bombs and stamps are all you need.

The magenta polish is Polish Me Silly Aloha Baby!. This is has a fantastic formula and is gorgeous. I stamped using Color Club Wicker Park.

Now for the glitter bombs! The all pink pinky is LAV Lacquer Pink Matter.  This has only two coats for opacity.  The heart glitter bomb is Picture Polish Frosting by Cosmetic Cupcake. This is the only polish I have that has hearts it in so I knew I had to use it! So fun!!

What could be easier than stamping? It's not always perfect and does take some practice, but they are always fun and unique!

I hope you all have a special Valentine's Day filled with polish and chocolate!

Born Pretty Review Part 2: Stamping Galore

**All products were provided  for an honest review**

For part 2 of our review for Born Pretty Store, I have some new products to show you. I you haven't used BPS yet, then you must. They have amazing products you can't find, great prices AND FREE Worldwide shipping!!

I've only used nail foils once before. I'm not a huge fan of them because I don't think they last. However, they are super easy to apply and can be a great way to accent your nails.

The foils I used are Nail Foils in style A13. I didn't use a base color, but I wish I did.  You can see a lot of bald spots and that's never good.  These pictures were taken of my second try at this set of foils. I know there a rules when using and applying foils. I thought I followed them, but they didn't seem to hold.  The surface was tacky and I was able to pick them right off. Who doesn't love a good polish picking session?

I think something might be off with my foil glue. The foils themselves were great.

Onto my favorite part! STAMPING! I have two different plates to review.

The first is called Radiating Pattern BP11. This plate is seriously cool.  These are designs I would never be able to do on my own.

(pic courtesy of born prettystore.com)

Base color is Color Club Jackie O stamped with black.

While my stamping didn't come out great, I still LOVE this mani and this plate. I used a marshmallowy stamper which warped the design way too much. Next time I'll use a more firm stamper.

The second plate I used has a vintage theme, BPL007.  The thing I love about this plate is that there are 25 IMAGES!!

(pic courtesy of bornprettystore.com)

The base of this mani is my favorite mint, Zoya Neely stamped with SinfulShine Steel Reserve. I am a huge peacock feather fan, so I knew I had to give this image a shot.  I love this color combination too!

This is another image from the same plate.  This kind of image was harder for me to apply because of the straight lines.  I usually try to stick with images that don't have to be lined up perfectly. Case in point, this image. I need lots more practice!! I used a new Indigo Bananas polish as the base, Immortal Game (these pics do not do it justice), stamped with Sephora by OPI Social Climber (my favorite silver stamping polish!).

Overall, I was very pleased with all of my selections. I am very rarely disappointed with the products I receive from Born Pretty Store.

Born Pretty Review Part 1

**All products were provided  for an honest review**

Well hello everyone!  We're really working on getting our groove back after the chaos of the holidays and other things going on in our lives (all good things thankfully!). We're always happy to do that with some product reviews.

When looking through the Born Pretty products I can never resist some stickers, so I chose these floral pattern silver decals.  Most of you know by now how much I love decals and stickers because they take no time at all.  This sheet is fun because there is so much you can do with them.  As you can see in the picture, there are full nail stickers and others in various shapes and sizes.

These stickers are a little trickier to apply compared to water decals because they are thicker and not as malleable.  That makes it more difficult to get it flush to the curve of your nail.  I found that once I applied some topcoat I could press down the edges with an orange wood stick and that seemed to do the trick.  I used Essie Smokin Hot as my base color.

Click here for these decals.

I also chose a bottle of stamping polish.  I have been wanting to add to my collection of suitable stamping polish because I am pretty limited as far as colors go.  Of course I went with my favorite color, purple!

Disclaimer... This was not my best attempt at stamping.  But, it was getting late and I just could not do it over again... so it goes.  (hashtag blogger problems!)  I figured I was reviewing the polish and the stamping didn't need to be perfect.  My other disclaimer is that I am not a total pro with stamping and that could be why I had trouble.

That said, I wasn't crazy about this one.  I did like that it didn't dry too quickly, because that's often a problem for me when stamping.  But, it smudged easily and does not take well to top coat, even when you let it dry.  You can see in the picture that a couple nails are quite smudged.  I even used a topcoat that is usually fine with my other stamping polishes but it still smudged.  I saw that Born Pretty has a variety of brands of stamping polishes, so maybe I will try another one next time.  I used Revlon Lily and Pueen plate #11 for this design.
