The Blues Swirl Dotticure

I'm finally starting to transition my brain into Spring. And what happens...IT SNOWS!! IN THE MIDDLE OF APRIL! It was just a light dusting, but STILL! It's 33 degrees outside. I can't take it anymore!! I just want to wear flip flops and pack away all my bulky winter clothes!

This is officially my first Spring colored mani and I'm IN LOVE!! I had bought a bunch of bright colors on sale over the Winter and I refused to wear them until the weather warmed up.

Barielle had an amazing sale and I snagged 4 polishes for $16!! I couldn't resist, especially since I didn't own any and had been wanting to try them out. This beautiful blue cream is called Magna Cum Laude Turquoise. The formula is flawless!

For my accent nail I used a dotting tool to create a swirl using a tutorial from Lucy's Stash! I can't tell you how many compliments I got on this one nail. LOL And it was a lot easier to pull off than I thought it would be. Please go check out her amazing tutorial here and try it out!!

I started with a white base and used a few different blues to create this ombre swirl.  AhMazing!!! I will have to try this on ALL of my nails one of these days now that I know I can do it.

Crazy Nail Contraption & An Dot

Calling all polish lovers!! You have got to see this crazy contraption my mom got me for Christmas. Every year she orders TONS of fun things you will never see in the store from a catalogue called LTD. This year she got me and my sister this thing called the Nail Polish Station.

I ALWAYS do my nails while sitting on the couch watching TV. This is a tricky thing to maneuver. I usually bend my knees and squeeze the polish in between the them so both hands are free, leaning my hands on my legs for leverage. If I'm doing some kind of nail art, I have a TV dinner tray thingy I set up. And that's how the magic happens. HAHAHA!! It sounds crazy when you put it all out there.

In comes the the Nail Polish Station. This pic shows it set up with base coat, color polish, and top coat. And it is laying on my LAP. :) The contraption holds the bottles in place and has a pivoting hand rest. The perfect little tool to do your nails on the couch without making a mess!! What do you think?? Is this kind of thing for you??

On to the mani!!! My hubby did an awesome job of stuffing my stocking with a few new polishes. He picked out some Essie shades I never saw before. This one is Essie Armed & Ready from the 2012 Go Overboard Collection. It's a olive-gray color with a hint of golden shimmer. And true to most Essie polishes, the formula was amazing!!

I decided this mani needed a little something extra. I just picked up OPI Love, Angel, Music, Baby from the new Gwen Stefani collection. Using a dotting tool a just added a simple dot to each nail. I will definitely be showing you all more of this amazing gold  color!

This polish had a matte finish, so I added it after the top coat.

Picture Polish Dotticure

The most simple form of nail art IMO is a dotticure! It looks hard to do and people are super impressed by it, which is always the goal right?? LOL

For this dotticure I used Picture Polish Mad Magenta as my base. I then used different sized dotting tools to created the pattern using Color Club Halo Hues, Sinful Shine Most Sinful, Sally Hansen Pink a Card and more Mad Magenta

This is the first time I tried the layering of dots using different colors. This effect is amazing and really takes the dotticure to the next level, but is still easy!!

I'm loving the color combo here as well. The addiction of the holo polish was the icing on the cake! Mmmmmm!! Love my holos!!!

What do you think of the dotticure?? You'll definitely be seeing more of them from me because I love the way they look and they are the closest thing to nail art I can do successfully. :)
