Valentine's Day Mani Mania

Happy Valentine's Day!!! 

This Valentine's Day I was inspired to create more than one look. I chose pinks as my primary colors because I despise red nail polish. I know, I know, don't hate me! If I had time I think I would have done another one. I just can't get enough of all the hearts and LOVE!!

This mani is so girly and fun! My new favorite purchase is this bright pink from Color Club, Wicker Park.  I'll definitely be wearing this a lot this Spring/Summer!

I free handed the heart using negative space. This is a technique I'll never get tired of. For the other nail I used striping tape and a dotting tool to create the heart. This spectacular silver holo is Digital Nails Supernova. WOW!

So stinkin' cute! 

The second mani I created is a little different and much easier to execute.  Some glitter bombs and stamps are all you need. 

The magenta polish is Polish Me Silly Aloha Baby!. This is has a fantastic formula and is gorgeous. I stamped using Color Club Wicker Park. 

Now for the glitter bombs! The all pink pinky is LAV Lacquer Pink Matter.  This has only two coats for opacity.  The heart glitter bomb is Picture Polish Frosting by Cosmetic Cupcake. This is the only polish I have that has hearts it in so I knew I had to use it! So fun!!

What could be easier than stamping? It's not always perfect and does take some practice, but they are always fun and unique!

Cosmo... The Perfect Drink and the Perfect Pixie

I have to admit, textured polishes aren't always my favorite.  But, I had never tried Zoya Pixies and I finally bought some a couple of months ago.  It was so hard to decide which one I wanted!  I ended up choosing Cosmo from the Magical Pixie Dust Spring 2014 collection.  Now it is taking all of my will power to resist buying the rest of the collection!  

This is more than a glitter bomb, this is like a disco ball on steroids in a bottle.  Zoya Cosmo is a silver textured polish with large iridescent hex particles.  Textured polishes can be tricky to apply smoothly but this applied nicely with minimal effort.  I applied 2 coats for full opacity.  

The mint shade is my favorite summer polish, Essie Absolutely Shore.  I love how these two polishes pair together.  To create the gradient accent nail I used an eyeshadow applicator to dab on the glitter polish then smoothed it out with topcoat.  I did not use topcoat on the middle finger in order to maintain the textured look.  

The best thing about this particular Pixie is that it can be paired with almost any shade.  But I think I want to try one of the others too... maybe Lux?  If you haven't tried them yet, I totally recommend them.  I got so many compliments on this mani.  I think the glitter really caught their eyes.  You can see this stuff from space!

It's A Birthday Mani!

It's my birthday today!! I won't tell you all how old I am but I will say I don't feel a day over 24.  Over the weekend I had lots of fun festivities with family and friends including a huge BBQ at our house with tons of food and drinks.  I love any excuse to host a party and get all of my loved ones together.  This party featured a brand new karaoke machine.  We had a blast! 

Obviously I had to rock a birthday mani...

My awesome sister gave me a gift bag full of nail goodies including some polishes, stamping plates and other fun stuff.  She added some new indie brands to my collection, Mentality and Polish Me Silly.  I used a couple of the polishes in this mani.  The pink shimmer is Mentality Empress, a bright pink shimmer that dries matte.  I decided I wanted a glossy finish for this mani so I added topcoat.  

My thumb nail has a crazy topper from Polish Me Silly called Play Date... This is like a colorful confetti explosion for your nails and I knew it would be perfect for a birthday mani accent nail.  

Isn't the cupcake adorable?  I was surprised I was able to paint it on my tiny nail bed, but it worked out well.  I certainly had my fill of cake, cookies and sweets this weekend, yum!

Unfortunately I have to work today so thankfully I was able to get all the celebrations out of my system over the weekend.  I'm sure the other nail products my sister gave me will make appearances on the blog soon.  Time for neons and pastels!

Superchic Lacquers Giveaway WIN!

When it comes to giveaways my motto is, you gotta be in it to win it! I have been winning giveaways left and right. Some I keep, some I give to friends. I have tried to enter more giveaways so that I don't spend as much on polish. And it has been working!

I gotta have an accent nail!! This bright pink is Zoya Ali with a glitter topper from Indie Polish, Clash-tastic. This is a perfect mix of glitters!

I haven't worn a glitter polish in a long time and I love the way this all came together. Removal was a whole other story!

Sparkly Blue

This is another mani I have hoarded for occasions like these when my nails are not photographable just yet. They are definitely getting better, but they aren't growing as fast as I thought they would be with the gel on them. Also, the SensatioNail gel formula doesn't seem to be agreeing with my nails. I am getting bad chipping at the tips within days. 

I have taken to the cyber world to ask for help and I found a magnificent blogger who is an expert at home gel manis. Michelle from Manic Talons wrote this great post about gel nails lifting and chipping. I asked her about what I should do and she suggested I try Gelish instead. So, I ran right out to my local Sally's and bought some. That will be my next step- soaking these bad boys off and starting over with the Gelish only. I'll keep you guys posted on how that goes.

For this spectacular mani I started with a black base, OPI Black Onyx (I call the the best black because it's opaque in one coat).  On the accent finger I used Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Mermaid's Tail. This polish is gorgeous! It has a mix of green and blue hexes in a black jelly base. I haven't tried this on its own, but I'm sure it's wonderful.

The rest of my nails are done with Sinful Colors After Party. This polish has all blue, mixed shaped glitters in a clear base. If you don't have any of these sparkly glitters from SC you must try them. They have a great formula and look stunning!! For $1.99 they are a must have!!!

My nails look so long in these pics. I hope they get back to that soon and stay that way. I swear I would have acrylics on right now if they weren't so damn expensive!!!

Cobalt Blue Glitter Gradient

So I finally got my SensatioNail gel kit. It was super easy to use and because I only used it as a base, no color, it took very little time to apply and cure. I've had it on since Thursday, almost a week now and most of the tips are chipped and peeling. I'm glad I can repair them myself, but I was hoping to see no chipping for at least 10-14 days. Bummer. I'm going to soak it off and start again and add more coats and see how that goes. Anyway, I'm still waiting for some growth in a couple nails that broke super low before I post them. I really want to show Picture Polish LE Aurora!!! Till then I have this mani that I've been hoarding from a few weeks ago. :)

Cobalt blue is by far my FAVORITE polish color. I have far too many in my collection, but every time I see one I have to have it!

The beautiful bright base of this mani is SinfulShine Most Sinful . I love this polish because it is an almost exact dupe for Essie Butler Please AND, my personal favorite, Nails Inc. Baker Street. Of course I have all of these! LOL

I used Butter London Inky Six to add a glitter gradient. I love a subtle glitter gradient because you can use the brush to pull it off in most cases. I haven't ventured into the messiness of sponge gradients and water marbling. Ain't nobody got time for that! 

Sephora by OPI Social Climber is the perfect silver for stamping. I almost got this one straight!! It's amazing how quick and easy stamping is once you get the hang of it.

Post Valentine's Love

Hello polish lovers! I didn't get these done for Valentine's Day, unfortunately, but I did get them done when my hubby and I went out with friends on Saturday night. I know that seems like ages ago, but now I'm finally getting them to you. 

I really liked the way this mani came out so I didn't want to not post it for you.

The only polish I have that has hearts in is is Picture Polish Frosting, so I knew I wan't to use it for this special occasion. Isn't it delicious looking?? This is two coats with two coats of top coat. The only thing I hate about this polish is that you really have to fish for the hearts in a crazy way!! Like EVERY SINGLE ONE!! 

The accent nail is Ciaté Confetti. This was my very first holo polish! :) I remember walking into Sephora and asking the salesgirl, "Do you have any holographic polish?" She looked at me like I was insane. A year ago no one really know what that was. At least not a regular person not obsessed with polish. LOL

The nail decal is from a set that I won from Beyond the Nail. These were really easy to work with and so fun. Just stick, add top coat, and go. It says they last up to 2 weeks! 

I can imagine this will be last Valentine mani you will see. Next will be St. Patrick's Day!!

Paint Shop Polish Review

Paint Shop Polish has a great line of winter polishes. Whether you like shimmers, glitter toppers or just a little sparkle, she has it all!

We have two polishes from the winter collection. First up is the perfect Christmas red sparkle topper, Prancer. 

For this mani I used one opaque coat of Zoya Carmen and two thick coats of Prancer. I gave it all a glossy finish with one coat of HK Girl top coat.

The formula on this polish was a tad thick, but not hard to work with. It went on evenly and dried nicely.

My favorite of the two polishes is the glitter topper, Jack Frost. Perfect for the cold, snowy weather we've been having here on the east coast, this polish has small, vibrant aqua blue glitters and large snowflakes.

I layered one coat of Jack Frost over one coat of Sephora by OPI Social Climber. I used two thick coats of HK Girl top coat to smooth everything out and seal the edges of the snowflakes.

Of course I had to fish like crazy to get each and every snowflake. That's to be expected with these types of large glitters.

Overall, I enjoyed using these polishes. I LOVED Jack Frost and couldn't stop looking at my nails!!!

MOD Lacquer Review

If you haven't heard if MOD Lacquer you MUST give them a lookie. I knew I had to try them when I saw their amazing glitter bomb Kosmic Karma! Then I saw their other polishes and the unique combinations they make and had have to them!! Here's another post I did with a few of my faves.

You know I have to start the MOD party with some MACROS. I'm so excited that I get to show you a range of polishes: glitters, flakie, and holo glitters…OH MY!!  Can you believe this line up???

"Sasquatch is a warm golden brown that shimmers in the sunlight, but it has a nice depth that fades into darkness in lower light to reveal the gold flakes."

This is the perfect fall polish. It's a brown polish with a golden touch. Flakie polishes are my favorite because you get the sparkle of a glitter without the hassle of glitter removal. 

This is two coats of Sasquatch. The formula is wonderful and smooth.

"Revenant is a bright blue with subtle duo-chrome that shifts from blue to purple with a micro fine scattered holo glitter to give a little sparkle."

Everyone knows I love a good blue! This is a GREAT blue! Of course the pics don't do the holo any justice. This polish really shines in the sunlight.

This is two coats of Revenant. The formula is great and goes on smooth.

"Goblin is a beautiful green duo-chrome that shifts from olive green to bright green to a warm burgundy/brown with a micro fine scattered holo glitter to give a little sparkle." 

The sister holo to Revenant, Goblin is an amazing fall holo. I'm loving green polishes more and more and this polish has added to my love! The duo-chrome shift in this polish is so fun!!

This is two wonderful coats of Goblin. The formula was smooth and covered well.

YAY GLITTERS!!!!!

"Thunderbird is a sheer black jelly finish with dark holo glitters that flash bright colors that pop out and grab you before slinking back into darkness."

I hate that I can't get a good pic of how amazingly sparkly this polish is! I would love to see this polish over a lighter color to see how it may make the holo glitters POP.

This is one coat of Thunderbird over one coat of OPI Onyx. I love the formula of this glitter topper. No fishing involved and it went on evenly and smooth!

"Jersey Devil is a sheer black jelly with bright, warm flashes of color popping from various sizes of holo glitter"

At first glance I didn't think I was going to like this polish because I'm not much of an orange lover. Once it was on, the orange color wasn't so bold and the sparkle was amazing. I didn't want to take this off!!

This is one coat Jersey Devil over one coat OPI Onyx. This polish will definitely cover in two coats for more sparkle! Again, the formula was perfect!

I'm in love with MOD Lacquer all over again. They have amazing formulas and brilliant combinations of colors and glitter.

Femme Fatale Cosmetics Awesomeness!!!

When were were given the opportunity to review for Femme Fatale Cosmetics I nearly fell to the floor. I LOVE their stunning polishes (even though I have yet to own one of them). The glitter combinations they have are like no other. And now, after having the chance to use their polishes, I can say they are top of the line. 

☆ ☽ ☆ ☽ ☆ ☽ ☆ ☽ ☆ ☽ ☆

First up is Sea Pony, a bright purple crelly shimmer base with pink, yellow and red different sized glitters. Pictures show two coats of Sea Pony with two coats of HK Girl top coat.

(All photos in this post are taken outside in natural daylight because one of my light box lights broke.) :(

The formula for this polish was great. It went on as smooth a chunky glitter can. I had to manipulate the glitter a little bit. I didn't have to dig for the bigger glitters, which makes a big difference to me.

This is definitely a great Spring/Summer color. I can't wait to bust it out again next year!!

You can see how nicely the coats layered and peek through the crelly base. LOVE THAT!

Next up is Fatal Attraction, a deep magenta with scattered holographic particles. 

Like most people, I had a really hard time capturing the beauty of the holo goodness in this polish. It was super sparkly and beautiful in the sunlight. 

It did eat up my top coat. I used two coats of Fatal Attraction and two heavy duty coats of HK Girl top coat. After all that I still didn't have a smooth surface. That's make me sad. :( Where does all that top coat go?? 

This fabulous beauty is Edge of the Cosmos, a name so perfect because of the large moons and stars (swoon). Here is the description from the Femme Fatale website: Edge of the Cosmos is a blackened purple base with fine holographic particles, and a variety of holo shapes and sizes. Resembles  being out in space and is amazing over Twilight Meteorite. To make this a little more interesting we vary batches slightly, replacing one or two glitters with another of same size and shape but different colour. We wanted to embody the ever-changing beauty of the universe with our mini version in a bottle ;)

How amazing is that? 

This polish is more sheer so I used one coat of Sephora by OPI Just a Little Dangerous as a base, one thick coat of Edge of the Cosmos and two coats of HK Girl top coat. I am so blown away by this polish! The holo glitters pop out like crazy! I got TONS of compliments on this polish, and who doesn't love that??

The thing I love most about this polish was that the stars and moon didn't jut out and catch on everything. You can see the star in the picture below looks almost rounded to my finger. EVERY nail had a star or moon or BOTH and none of them stuck out! Amazing! Oh, did I mention I didn't have to fish for glitter in this polish either? 

Lastly is the lovely Wolfsbane, a deep purple almost blue base filled with navy hexes and shreds, blue moons and small red flecks. 

While this could probably be opaque in 2-3 coats, I chose to use a base coat to avoid clumping the glitter. I used one coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Currant Trend, one thick coat of Wolfsbane, and two coats of HK Girl top coat. The formula for this polish was a little trickier than the others. It was goopier, so I had to play with it a bit to make it even across the nail. After the top coat I was happy with the coverage. Again, the moons did not stick out and I didn't have to fish for them. :)

**MACROS**

Aaahhhhh.....I just can't get enough of some good macros!!!

Overall, I was super pleased with the Femme Fatale polishes. One thing I was disappointed about (not to sound greedy at all) was the mini bottles. I LOVE the Femme Fatale bottles SO MUCH!!! As a hoarder...I mean collector of polishes I would have loved to add a full Femme Fatale to my collection. I'll have to just keep it on the list. :)
